Physique Training | Peter Mayhew
Peter Mayhew is an internationally trained exercise rehabilitation specialist and health industry leader with almost five decades of experience in strength training, neurological rehabilitation, disability support, and clinical exercise programming.
Since beginning his career in 1978, Peter has dedicated his professional life to improving the health, independence, and quality of life of people living with disability, neurological injury, and complex health conditions. Accredited through Oxford University in 1982, he has combined evidence-based practice with practical experience to develop innovative rehabilitation techniques that have assisted individuals recovering from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), neurological disorders, and significant physical disabilities.
In 2019, Peter founded Physique with the vision that every person, regardless of age, disability, or circumstance, should have access to quality exercise and rehabilitation services. Under his leadership, Physique has become recognised for delivering specialised, person-centred programs that improve strength, mobility, independence, and community participation.
Peter’s expertise has extended beyond private practice into clinical research. He has been an active contributor to the Bridges Project alongside Professor Leanne Hassett and researchers from the University of Sydney and NSW Health.
This groundbreaking research contributed to the development of new clinical pathways for TBI rehabilitation and has influenced international best practice.
Peter continues to advocate for inclusive healthcare and is actively involved in research aimed at reducing barriers to rehabilitation and improving long-term outcomes for people living with neurological and physical disabilities.
His private life sees him lifting weights as a competitive powerlifter.
He holds numerous Australian Powerlifting Records and 12 current World records.
